Support before and after surgery

Body-oriented preparation and gentle support following medical procedures.

An upcoming operation can bring hope, anxiety, tension and many practical questions at the same time. After a procedure, it may also take time for the changed body to feel more familiar again.

Before a procedure

Before an operation, conversation, body awareness, breathing, hypnosis or inner imagery may support you in perceiving your own state more consciously and finding a personal way of dealing with tension and uncertainty. Medical information and decisions remain the responsibility of the doctors treating you.

After a procedure

After an operation, any bodywork is guided by the healing process and your current capacity. Fresh wounds are not treated. Depending on the situation, we may begin with awareness of areas away from the wound, very quiet touch or conversation.

Medical follow-up care takes priority

The start of bodywork depends on the healing process and medical instructions. Pain, signs of inflammation, impaired healing or other unusual symptoms require medical assessment first. Before the initial appointment, we clarify when body-therapeutic support appears responsible.

If fully healed scars remain after the procedure, targeted manual scar work may later be considered. More about scars and medical procedures →

Medical context

Symptoms whose cause is unclear or that could indicate a serious condition should be medically assessed. My work does not replace necessary medical treatment. I am not aware of scientific recognition of the effectiveness of the methods and approaches I use.
